Dafydd James's Phots
Welcome
Hello all! Alot of changes have taken place recently due to a new camera, all my collections have now gone with some fairly alright photos staying in a new folder. My new camera has to be taking priority and so I need to use the space for the photos from it! It's a Canon 1000D incase you need to know! Nearly all photos taken on it are downsized to 1024x683 on fotopic so I can fit as much in as possible. The original size for the mojority for all photos taken on the new camera are 3888x2592. For my older photos they are full size on fotopic. Anyway please enjoy my photos, although I am still adapting to the new camera which will most likely be evident for the near future!

17th Sep 2009Wellington Shots
These Shots are set aside from the rest as Wellington is my home station. Rather than just place many folders called "Wellington **/**/****" I decided to put them all in one folder. The only exceptions will be of WSMR services which will go into the WSMR folder. Enjoy the pictures here and comment if you so wish!
14th Sep 2009WSMR 67010 "N" Gauge Dummy Model (Dapol)
Sold onboard services recently in limeted quantities is this N Gauge Model of 67010. The model itself is very nice and looks very good. It comes with nameplate "Charles Darwin" but this is not attached (shown in the pictures) and is put on by whomever has the model. It also comes with various pieces to be attached to the model as well. A feature on the model is the exhause pipe on top which is painted to look rusty which I quite like the idea of! The model itself appears to be able to have a motor added as seen on the bogies. The bodyshell also looks to come off but it hasn't been atempted to remove it due to risk of damage! The model cost £24.95.

31st Aug 2009West Yorkshire Area
Just a few of the shots I took on Monday 31st of August after a visit to see family in Shipley. Afterwards I went on a WYDR with friends which was a good laugh and I took a few shots.
6th Aug 2009West Midlands Day Rover (Crewe, Coseley & Birmingham Snow Hill)
Although there are a lot more pictures I took, these are the ones I have choses for fotopic. I was doing a West Midlands Day Rover with a good friend today as part of a scavenger hunt on a forum I'm on (The Mess Room). Anyway we had a tasklist of 85 pictures to take with each pictures having a certain number of points, 1 being an easy picture and 5 being difficult. The group with the msot points wins. So off we went and after arriving into New street we grabbed some points and headed over to Moor Street to get some more. onwards we headed to Snow Hill, where I nabbed a few pictures, one of which being the 150 and the tram in this collection. After completing a few more tasks we made our way back to New Street and over to Crewe where within 15 minutes we say the following;
87002, 86424, 86613, 47843, D1916, 47769, 08810, DR92285, 31465, 31233 and that was just from the LNWR into the station! Then we nabbed 90043, 90049, 66516, 66418, 37602, 37069, 37401, 20302, and 20303! Now not all got photed and some wern't decent phots (as I was pointing the camera out the window!) but I got some nice ones of the 20's and DRS 37's. The real dissapointment came with 37401, I was getting myself ready with the DRS 37's when it came blazing through the middle road! I could barely get chance to get a shot and when I did a Pendolino came from the opposite direction and got in the way. Oh well, you can't have everything! Anyway, after a hellfire departure from the 37's we decided to head back into brummie land and pick up a few more points but along the way we bailed at Coseley as I saw a Permit to Travel machine and on the scavenger hunt list we had to get a "Permit to Travel" ticket. As we got that the ticket guy came out of the office and. much to our surprise told us the NMT was due through in 20 minutes! We had no idea, honestly it was pure luck the whole day, things were just going right! Coseley seemed like a good place for the phot anyway so we stayed to get that passing through although we ended up being there longer than expected as the NMT ended up running 30 minutes late but it was totally worth it! 43013 was leading up front although as it passed it sounded rubbish, no noise or anything. The rear was another story as 43062 gave a nice bit of noise as she passed going from notch 4 to notch 3 then back to 4 again as the signal changed from yellow to double yellow. Straight after that a 323 pulled in and we were off to Birmingham New Street! I wanted to know what the WSMR times were from Tame Bridge Parkway as we had a task comprising of "Photograph a loco hauled service" so I headed over to the information desk (Virgin Trains staff running it) and asked "could you give me the times for WSMR from Tame Bridge Parkway please". I was replied with "they don't serve here so I can't give you them". Very nice of them. Moving on we got a train to Tame Bridge to find a WSMR wasn't due (so that was a waste of time) and so made our way back to New Street. I decided it would be best heading back to Crewe with a change over at Wolverhampton to check WSMR times. There were a few points more we could get at Crewe so off we went. By sheer fluke I then saw 47786 propelling some coaching stock out of the station and so I nabbed a shot of that for another task before running like mad over to my train back to get there in time for the evening WSMR service back to Wellington. All in all a very good day :D here are a selection of shots I thought were fairly decent (although the aim of the day wasn't to get good phots!)
1st Aug 2009Birmingham New Street & Stafford
After a late evening start, I got myself a West Midlands Day Rover and boarded the 18:45 service from Wellington heading to Birmingham New Street where I took a few phots. I was aiming to get the NXEC HST set Cross Country were using for there Manchester Piccadilly to Newquay and return service that day and I did so, setting off at 20:57 from BNS and heading to Stafford. It proved brilliant for me! I managed to get a look in the cab of the leading power car (43307) and on the return, although not photographed, I got on the last WSMR service from London with 67014 leading.
27th Jun 2009The Kernow Growler
Due to my tiredness and my intention to go on this for fun and to have a general laugh, I didn't go all out with my photos but I am going to put a few on here anyway for everyone to look at!
13th Jun 2009Class 40 "The East Lancs Crusader", WSMR, 37's and Acton Bridge
Firstly, 40145 is seen at Drawell Street, Shrewsbury, heading the tour to Aberystwyth. A dash over to Acton Bridge could site of two DRS tractors running the flasks, then another dash over to the SVR to get 37906 running and a kettle. Then I went to a new location, a public crossing at Leaton. The spot itself was brilliant! Here a WSMR service was photted before heading over to Haston to phot the 40 tour on the return.
